Job Description

The successful candidate will lead and supervise aircraft maintenance activities to ensure timely aircraft serviceability and operational readiness. The role is responsible for the approval, control, monitoring, and implementation of non-routine and deferred maintenance, including MEL and CDL requirements, while providing effective supervision of maintenance personnel. The position involves carrying out and overseeing maintenance tasks on Air Arabia aircraft, ensuring all work is performed, certified, and recorded accurately and within required timelines in compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards. The role also ensures effective roster management, including shifts, leave, and absence planning, to meet operational and maintenance requirements.

Requirements

Manages on a day-to-day basis all the maintenance activities of the operation in support of the Maintenance Manager.
Regularly monitors the Fleet Deferred Defect Status in conjunction with Maintenance Planning and ensures defects are cleared in a timely and cost-effective manner whilst adhering to the required standards. Acts as a focal point for target dates/times for clearing defects on aircraft.
Ensure MEL/CDL/ADD restricted items are tracked and corrected within the required time intervals.
Coordinates the activities of the department, assisting maintenance staff through monitoring their work and reviewing their job tasks.
Highlight management of any concerns, or issues relating to the performance of staff.
Carries out maintenance work on aircraft in accordance with qualifications, experience, and authority.
Ensures maintenance work carried out by Air Arabia maintenance Engineers meets the Air Arabia and Regulatory standards.
Review the operational status of the Air Arabia fleet daily, ensuring that the Maintenance Manager is always up-to date with any changes to the planned operation.
Check that Maintenance Planning produced the daily status sheet, reviewing and approving entries made. Organizes and attends the daily morning maintenance conference call with the Maintenance Manager when required.
Update the Maintenance Manager immediately of pending problems with the fleet that cause concern or could result in operational disruption or involve a drop in acceptable service standards during their shift.
Advise the Maintenance Manager of equipment or tooling shortfalls that could potentially affect maintenance operations.
Take responsibility for the 1st line of any disciplinary action required because of non-acceptable performance.
Checks aircraft appearance regularly and carry out audits on the interior identifying discrepancies and reporting findings to the Maintenance Manager.
Monitors and files technical bulletins/circulars [e.g.,QNs,EBs, Safety circulars] maintains their database and ensures their allocated staff reads and understands any changes.
Ensure that all personnel will report any hazards, accidents, and incidents.
Identify and report all occurrences, hazards, operational irregularities, unsafe conditions, or practices in a timely manner.
Manages the safety of assigned maintenance activities, ensuring all published mandatory precautions are taken prior to commencing work and during task execution.
Take positive steps to protect self and other people in the area of the maintenance activity from any possible injury, including the use of proper GSE and protective equipment.
Manages human factors aspects of maintenance, ensuring that the continuity of critical maintenance tasks is protected, by avoidance of task interruption and the proper use of handover procedures.
Internal Customer Service: provides positive and proactive support to other operational teams in Arabia, providing helpful professional advice, suggestions and solutions.
Leadership: provides sound supervision and guidance of Engineers and/or Technicians assigned to support own tasks. Ensure they are adequately briefed to perform the non-certifying maintenance tasks.
Maintains positive awareness of the cost of aircraft maintenance including use of time and materials. Minimizes unnecessary waste of consumable material and part repair cost by avoiding unnecessary damage and repeat work during maintenance.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
Holds a current DAC License B1 (Mechanical) License (with A320 Rating) and company approval on the Airbus A320 with CFM56 engine.
Knowledge of troubleshooting complex aircraft systems (engines, hydraulics, avionics interfaces, etc.).
Familiarity with AMOS, ETLB, and all company systems. Knowledge of SMS – Safety Management System.
Strong communication skills (for coordination with CAMO, flight ops, and regulatory authorities).
Work Experience
8 years’ experience of aircraft maintenance on the Airbus A320 family of aircraft.
5 years’ experience in a Line Maintenance environment.
3 years’ certifying experience on an A320/CFM56 aircraft.
