Senior Specialist - Statistics & Data Analysis

Job purpose

Support the Enterprise Command and Control Department in collecting, verifying, classifying, exploiting, and analyzing transportation data obtained from the different agencies and sectors across RTA, and summarizing the outputs in the form of studies, analytics reports, visual dashboards and other formats to support decision-making and increase situational awareness of transportation data.

Key Results & Accountabilities

1. Evaluate data product requests received by ECCD and study their commercial potential using approved standards and in cooperation with the concerned organizational units in RTA

2. Ensure update and maintenance of a department-wide transportation database, ready for analysis and exploitation when required

3. Study and prepare data use cases to improve operational performance of transportation modes on a multimodal level

4. Perform all types of data analysis, including descriptive, prescriptive, diagnostic and predictive, using various analytics tools to uncover key insights that lead to better informed and successful decision-making

5. Liaise with government and non-government agencies to ensure smooth flow and exchange of transportation data, to serve ECCD’s objective of maintaining and analyzing multi-modal transportation data

6. Report and present RTA’s analyzed data and statistics to the relative agencies and sectors to support decision making, particularly in the preparation and/or update of RTA’s strategic plan, as well as the reporting of strategic KPIs

7. Conduct specialized benchmarking studies in the field of work and tasks assigned to ensure the distinguished and pioneering position of the organization in accordance with the strategic directions of RTA

8. Develop, review, and update policies, procedures, and other technically specialized documents concerning the areas of expertise and in coordination with the stakeholders and alignment with RTA’s document management systems

9. Perform other related duties and responsibilities associated with the position, or any additional responsibilities as advised by the direct Line Manager or Department Director.

10. Ensure knowledge transfer and provide support for colleagues through conducting awareness sessions, and actively participating in brainstorming discussions and other related sessions.

11. Collect, sort, verify, and clean different data types and formats obtained from different transportation modes within ECCD

Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/ Data Analysis, Data Science, or a relevant field from a recognized university with minimum 8 years of working experience.

Masters in Statistics/ Data Analysis, Data Science, or a relevant field from a recognized university with minimum 6 years of working experience
